A health food trend that totally warrants the hype, acai is an Amazonian superfood known for its high antioxidant content and chocolate-y berry taste, which of course makes it perfect for smoothies. And while I love acai smoothies and smoothie bowls, I don’t always enjoy dishing out the cash to pay for one every weekend. So we’ve stocked up on Amazonia’s frozen smoothie packs to make our own acai smoothies at home. They’re much more economical if you’re an acai addict like me!
Jack has been making his own acai smoothies long before ‘acai’ became a superfood buzzword and has mastered the recipe for the best acai smoothie I’ve ever had! The secret ingredient? Honey.
- 2 x Amazonia acai frozen smoothie packs
- 1 frozen banana
- 300mL coconut water
- 1/2 cup of strawberries
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
Blend together until smooth – this recipe will serve 2. Top with your choice of toppings – I’ve added fresh berries, coconut chips and cacao nibs. Sip and enjoy!
